Pinewood Holiday Homes is just three miles from Lyme Regis making it a perfect base for touring. Being on the Devon/Dorset border means that the best of both counties are within easy reach. To the west, in Devon, is the delightful fishing village of Beer and the elegant seaside towns of Sidmouth and Budleigh Salterton. To the east is Dorset, almost wholly designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Where Dorset meets Devon and the rolling countryside tumbles down to the sea, nestles the fascinating little town of Lyme Regis. Famed for its Jurassic fossils and more recently the setting of the film The French Lieutenant’s Woman, Lyme Regis focuses around its ancient Cobb Harbour. It remains today much as it has always been - whatever you’re looking for in a holiday, you’ll find it here. There are sea-fishing and pleasure boat trips, and the tranquillity of Langmoor Gardens - a picture at any time of the year. Old and interesting shops, studios, pubs and cafes are here in abundance - perfect for browsers! For sun lovers, the south facing beaches are ideal for families - safe bathing, golden sand and rock pools will keep the young and young at heart happy for hours.
We are situated perfectly to enjoy many of the attractions within Devon, Dorset & Somerset, and many you don't need to travel that far! Within a half hours drive of Pinewood Holiday Homes, there are the stunning gardens of Pecorama, plus train rides for the young & old alike, the Beer Quarry Caves, Crealy Great Adventure Park, Bicton Park, with stunning gardens & train rides & one of our favourite attractions is World of Country Life at Exmouth - with over 2 acres of indoor attractions & play areas, this attraction is perfect for all ages & all weathers too!!
If shopping is more your thing then we are only 30 minutes away from Exeter which it's many shopping centres, cafe's & bars - if you don't wish to drive, why not catch the train from Axminster - perfect so you can relax after a busy days shopping!! Sidmouth & Exmouth have many smaller shops & cafe's if busy cities don't do it for you; perfect for grabbing a bargin!
For food shopping we have a Co-op in Seaton, & a Tesco in Axminster - both only a short drive away - alternatively there is a 24 hour Asda only in Taunton!
Thousands of people visit the Jurassic Coast every year in the hope of finding some fossils; these can be found on many of the beaches, such as Lyme Regis, Charmouth & Monmouth. This huge ammonite was found on Monmouth beach by Wendy & Andy Brown & their children Libby & Tommy; they have a holiday home at Pinewood & visit the area regularly & were fortunate enough to find this beautiful specimen! Tommy is pictured alongside his find!! Why not see if you too can find something as special!!
